Don Julio GE

Commissioned by Diageo and an independant liquor retailer.

A one-off custom GE design to elevate the presence of the Don Julio, including its premium variants. The display must embody the premium brand while remaining true to the brand identity itself.

Exploring the brand.

The start of each project brings excitement about what is possible. â€‹â€‹

Using the creation of the stock is a good way to explore the brand,

the bottles different shapes, and subtle differences, along with labels, and all the characteristics of the product, and exploring the logos and brand CI and various online resources, all come together to form the initial concept.

Conceptualisation

Once the exploration has reached a level maturity. The coceptualisation begins. Below are several examples of the initial designs.

Concept

Created two concepts, one direction was more simplistic, you could say the designers choice, with the second direction a slightly more interesting route with a cubed theme, a refrigerator is added for the chilled option.

Wood textures give the unit a natural artisanal, while keeping a premium feel with the gold trim.

A LED screen at the top with a vertical media screen on the front of the shelves for interchangeable media.

Revision

The addition of the premium range of product not initially requested. This was quite a challenge to balance the vertical spacing since the particular bottles are fairly tall.

New Concept revision

After a sometime, the client requested the exploration of a new direction based off a new CI which had been received. This design was far more bold than before using a shape inspired by the premium bottle with additional lighting. An option with and without a LED screen was presented.

After some negotiation between the store owner and the brand owners this became the winning design, a simplified version of my first concept, the one I called the designers choice.
